Gawker may be looking for any excuse to shed some salaries to pay for the trial. Lanesplitter, being a peripheral blog, most likely seems like a good opportunity for them to make some sacrifices.

I’m curious, too. I found out when Sean posted about it on Twitter. There’s been no comment from any of the Jalopnik folks yet. I’m curious if they have a plan or are just giving up on it. I hope they’re not giving up. Lanesplitter had gotten really good under Sean’s leadership.

he tweeted something about no longer being an employee and not to worry he will find a new platform to post his stuff and that he was bummed cuz he had some good stuff in the works so i would take that as the tactful way of saying shitcanned.

I held out hopes that they would make a motorcycle blog worth going to. I have to give credit Sean definitely made a solid effort at it. Unfortunately I think he just did not have the kind of backing he needed. I’m not sure how much of the work he did but it seemed like 90~95% of what was worth reading had his name on it.

I came here via Jalopnik, and then found lanesplitter. For a while I would go there first, but soon I just did not find enough material to keep my interest. Now I mostly come to Oppo and if I get bored I venture out to the other pages. With Sean gone, I am not sure why I would go there, I suspect it will become a ghost town with few articles, and even fewer worth reading.

That doesn’t make much sense, I thought it was doing well. It seemed to even have its own nonjalop crowd, which I’d think is a huge deal within Gawker.
